The Affenpinscher breed is wiry-haired dog whose intelligence and demeanour make it a good house pet. Originating in Germany, the name Affenpinscher means, “monkey-like terrier”. Affenpinscher dogs were developed to rid the kitchens, granaries, and stables of rodents. To find a good affenpinscher breeder look for an affenpinscher club in your area and visit them. They will be able to put you in contact with reputable affenpinscher breeders who have affenpinscher pups for sale, or an affenpinscher rescue organization.

The Affenpinscher shows great loyalty and affectionate toward its masters and friends and is an excellent dog breed to live with families. Affenpinscher dogs show very low dog aggressiveness towards family whilst remaining a good watch dog. Affenpinscher dogs have a very high demand for affection and are excitable and playful. While not as tolerant to children under 4 as some other breeds, an affenpinscher dog will not try to dominate a small child.

The Affenpinscher dog requires firm but loving guidance, for it can be obstinate. Dog grooming an Affenpinscher dog is straight forward, it's coat should be brushed several times a week. It is relatively easy to learn how to trim the dog around the feet, ears, and tail with scissors to keep him looking neat.
